Glamour Magazine Analysis - A1

The magazine has a large and bold masthead that stands out from the rest. The font of the masthead is thick and harsh against the other colours, making it easily visible. A white font has been used which makes the magazine seem professional and elegant. Moreover, the masthead is placed at the top of the magazine so even the whole magazine isn’t shown, people could still see the name of the fashion brand. “American Women NOW” and “Fall Fashion & Beauty” are the main cover lines of this magazine that will notice the audience of what they will be reading about. There are smaller cover lines, where the cover line “Just the Best! Boots. Braids. Brows. Everything” attracts the readers the most as it contains alliteration, which makes it sound catchy. Bella Hadid, a famous celebrity, is the main image on the front cover. This will help magazine producers attract the audience’s attention, especially females since other women admire and look up to her. An anchorage text, “Bella Hadid”, is used to show who the main image is in the magazine. As I have mentioned above, this will catch the readers’ eye because she is a successful model who would appeal to the target audience. Red, yellow and white are the theme colors for the cover page. They are very bold and help the overall magazine cover to stand out from the other boring looking magazines. Additionally, this color scheme conveys the genre of this particular fashion magazine: Fall or autumn. The tag “Exclusive: President Obama on Feminism” is placed at the bottom of the page that catches the readers’ interest about what the president has got to say on this topic. This also means that Glamour bought the story or interview exclusively that no other magazines or newspapers can use, which makes their magazine appear more special.
